But, in the end, we all are human and have breakdowns. No matter how hard one may work, there are days when everything one achieves seems questionable, and one may see themselves losing everything. And Woods is not untouched by this feeling. He once revealed the story of his meltdown, which he wouldn’t even wish on his rivals.
Was it the end of an era for Tiger Woods?
In 2015, Woods had a one-on-one interview with Lorne Rubenstein (veteran golf writer), and ‘TIMES’ published the interview. During his extended interview, Woods discussed several details of his life, including his separation from ex-wife Elin, his relationship with ex-girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, his injuries, and his worst nightmare.
While talking about his golfing career, Woods revealed an ugly incident he suffered. He had been struggling with back issues for the past few years then. After experiencing the worst nightmare, he finally told the story of how he almost lost it.
While practicing golf back at his house, he severely injured his back. He hit a flop shot over the bunker, and it accidentally hit some nerve in his back. The former no.1 was immediately down on the ground, and the scariest part was that there was no one around. He wasn’t carrying his cell phone; therefore, he couldn’t even call anyone for help.
But by God’s grace, his daughter Sam, wanted to hang out, and she found him lying on the floor. Woods was grateful that his daughter found him. He immediately instructed his daughter to go inside and ask the guys to get the cart so that they could help him get up. Even though he was saved that day, he can not forget the experience. He said, “I’ll never forget when I really hurt my back and it was close to being done.”

The inception of the gripe back surgery
It was pretty late in his career when Woods realized that back injury could become a chronic issue that can require multiple back surgeries. He underwent his first back surgery in 2015 with a lumbar microdiscectomy.
They removed a pressurized disc fragment from Woods’ back because it irritated a dynamic nerve, not letting him play or make any movements. This was the result of nerve pinches during the practice.
