Every country has some cream entities who come from different walks of life. Entities, whom the countries put forward with utmost pride. For America, it is Tiger Woods. Born in 1975, Woods is largely regarded as the greatest golfer of all time. However, little does one that the American sensation has his roots in Asia.

Scrolling through the family tree, Woods was born to Kultida Woods and Earl Woods. His mother was predominantly a Thai native. On the hand, Earl Woods once referred to himself as ‘half-Black, one-quarter American Indian, and one-quarter Chinese’.

Joining the dots, it goes without saying that Tiger clearly has deep Asian roots. Going back in time to 2003, he opened up about the same in an interview.

Tiger Woods puts light on his Asian connection

In 2003, Woods headed for a visit to the East Asia country of China. During his visit, he indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, he opened up about his Asian connection. Heading into the conversation, he started by opening up about his visit to Asia.

“Well it’s awfully nice coming back to Asia,” he started, with a pinch of smile on his face. “Obviously my mum’s, its the kind of household I grew up in so it is pretty neat always coming back to Asia but particularly China, I’ve never been to China. This is my first time and I’m really excited about it.”

Indulging further into the conversation, the interviewer questioned Woods, “how Asian is Tiger Woods?”

In reply to this, the 82 PGA Tour titles winner said, “Predominantly Asian actually. The majority of my blood is Asian.”

Despite having Asian-rooted parents, Woods has always lived in the USA. Staying thousands of kilometers away from the continent, Tiger Woods was asked about his feelings for Asia.

“I do and when I come back here I feel, I feel at peace because this is the culture I was raised under really. My mum was basically the one I saw at home all the time and that’s the discipline I received.

In his illustrious career so far, Woods has made sure to give back to America by winning 82 PGA Tour titles to date. However, despite having ruled American golf, he hasn’t failed to address his Asian connection. Along with the PGA Tour, he has also won 2 Asian Tour titles to date. With his hands on his clubs, Woods continues to leave his mark not just in America, but around the globe.
