Owning golf equipment can be a costly affair. But owning golf clubs once used by Tiger Woods is only for the exclusive. The golfer’s unreal feats in the sport have made him one of the greatest of all time. Last year, Woods’s clubs that he used during the ‘Tiger Slam’ were sold for an astronomical amount. Check out how much and why were they worth a 7-figure amount.

Since making his pro debut in 1996, Tiger has had 82 professional wins, including 15 Major titles. While many argue during which phase the Hall of Famer was in the greatest form of his life, it was in the early 2000s when the golfer’s accomplishments made it into the record books.

After winning the 1997 Masters, Woods hadn’t won any Major for another two years. While he won the PGA Championship in 1999, a year later, Tiger was set to embrace greatness. After starting the 2000 season with a T-5 finish at Augusta National, the then 25-year-old golfer tasted silverware in every other Major.

He successfully defended his PGA Championship and then won the US Open and Open Championship in the 2000 season. Tiger Woods continued his hot streak at the 2001 Masters to conclude the ‘Tiger Slam’, a term similar to the Grand Slam referring to a golfer winning all four Major in one season. Nonetheless, nearly 21 years after one of Woods’s greatest feats in the sport, his irons and wedges from his four Major wins were sold for $5,156,162.

In 1996, Tiger Woods signed a five-year deal with Titleist. While any single iron of the brand would cost around $200 currently, each of Woods’s nine wedges from his ‘Tiger Slam’ was sold for more than half a million. The set of Titleist 681 T Forged irons and Vokey wedges were used by the 15-time Major winner, until the 2001 Buick Open.

The same set of clubs was sold for 57,242 in 2010 to Houston businessman Todd Brock. Prior to him, the valuable golf equipment was in possession of Steven Mata, who acquired them from Tiger when he was Titleist’s vice president of player promotions. Nonetheless, further inflation took the price of the irons and wedges to the $5 million mark.

But though no equipment in the world of golf can match the same price tag, Woods does have more golf clubs sold for exorbitant amounts. Let’s take a look at some of them.

Other expensive golf clubs sold by Tiger

Apart from selling his ‘Tiger Slam’ irons and wedges, the Billionaire golfer also sold some other equipment during the same timeline. Scotty Cameron Newport TEI3 Putter, which Woods personally used during the 1997 and 1998 seasons, was sold for $221,376. The value of the putter is expected to rise exponentially.
