All eyes are on Tiger Woods as the legendary golfer withdrew from his 2024 season opener. The 48-year-old was on his sixth green at the Genesis Invitational when he developed flu symptoms. It led to him being rushed to medical care, which now results in a disappointing start to this year.

This situation has got many of his fans wondering if he will return to the event he hosts. Furthermore, there are clouds of doubt over his next appearance on the PGA Tour. But Woods has confirmed he will be playing at some events in the future. What are they? Let’s find out.

But with the current health problems, the 48-year-old can skip The Players Championship in March. It will give him time to get into peak condition before the major tournament at Augusta National. However, this will break a promise he made in the past.

Will Tiger Woods go back on his word?

Back in November 2023, Woods competed in the Hero World Challenge. During that event, he made a statement“I think that best scenario would be maybe a tournament a month. I think that’s realistic.” Furthermore, he indicated he will begin his 2024 season at the Genesis Invitational.

Unfortunately, he did not get the start he wanted at the signature event. He was troubled with physical ailments like his stiff knee and back spasms during the first round. With the flu now added in the mix, hopes of his promise of ‘1 event per month’ are looking dim.

It will depend on how fast he recovers from the flu and physical ailments. A piece of good news for the fans is that he is rapidly getting better from his flu symptoms. But he still has some physical conditions troubling him, as we saw him limping at the Riviera Country Club earlier.
