It is not a secret that Tiger Woods has been the representative of professional golf since his debut. Even the kids know that his face represents the sport. However, his long break from the sport makes many worried about his potential to maintain the role. Or is anyone else ready to become the next face of professional golf? 

Woods has been carrying the pressure on his shoulder for the last 26 years. His 50+ regular season titles, 15 major championships, and 18 World Golf Championships are some of the reasons why people have him in mind while talking about the sport.

However, his absence from the sport due to a major car accident and recent comments regarding his future in golf have made many concerned about his capability to continue being the face of the sport. 

Fans have already picked their favorite to replace Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has made it clear during his past interviews that he wouldn’t be playing full schedule from now on. He made this decision after being involved in a car crash that caused him to have deep injuries. “That’s just my reality,” he told Sky Sports during the 150th Open Championship. “I don’t like it,” he added. “But I just have to accept it.”

His confession led many to believe that his glory days are now over. Hence, when a Twitter post asked who could be the next face of golf, the fans put their maximum effort to pick a worthy player to replace Woods.

Notably, some still believed that Woods can make a comeback and maintain his position. However, most fans agreed that Rory McIlroy would be suitable for the role, in case golf might need another golfer to represent it. Players like Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, and Tom Kim got votes in the poll as well.

Is Rory McIlroy capable of taking over the ‘face of professional golf’ title? 

Being the face of any professional sport is an added pressure on the entity. Yet, the majority of the fans agreed that they want McIlroy to be the next face of golf.

In 15 years of his career, the Northern Irishman has collected 34 titles from both PGA and DP World Tours. His collection includes four majors and 3 WGCs, and 3 FedEx Cups.
