It was 1996 when the father-son duo, Tiger and Earl Woods, started the ‘TGR Foundation’. The setup largely included education programs for young minds along with providing the required help during their college admissions. The association has flourished immensely since its start two decades ago, and has served a multitude of talented individuals with genuine opportunities.
In 2006, the initiative expanded to incorporate practical learning experiences for its students of STEM. On the occasion of Women’s Golf Day 2023, one similar case was highlighted by the foundation.

This has further allowed the young golfer to chase after her aspirations and conquer hopeful opportunities. One of the opportunities includes a chance to play golf on a bigger stage like the TGR JR Invitational. And that is exactly what Ariana Perez aimed at!
Ariana Perez’s participation in the inaugural TGR JR Invitational
Ariana, through her diligence and hard work, has made a name for herself in the STEM and golf programs of Woods’ initiative. Her efforts have further been recognized with her selection as a participant in the TGR JR Invitational. Relatively new, the tournament provides budding golfers with a rare opportunity to experience a different level of competition.
In TGR JR, a total of 60 golfers take on the greens as they are exposed to the sport. Last year, 13 golfers out of the sixty invited, were SCGA Junior members. Ariana Perez was also one among them. The venue of the event, The Hay at Pebble Beach and The Links at Spanish Bay, have allowed the competitors to encounter fun, yet challenging golf courses. In fact, The Hay was not long ago redesigned by Tiger Woods himself to present a shorter course.

About her participation in the inaugural event of the Invitational, Perez said, “My favorite golf experience would be playing in the TGR JR Invitational at Pebble Beach. I got to meet Tiger Woods, and I made a 35- foot putt for birdie on the last hole. That was really fun.” She also added that golf is a dynamic game and there is a lot to like about it. Especially the kind of space it has built for young individuals like Perez.
‘It’s opened the doors for me,’ the junior concluded her statement. Without any doubt, the energy of golf is changing. More athletes, especially young girls, are entering the golf arena. With opportunities like the one TGR Foundation provides, the future of golf appears safe.
