The curtains might fall for the 27-year longest alliance between Tiger Woods and Nike as a recent tease by TaylorMade hints at a new apparel partnership. Woods signed with Nike in 1996 for a reported $40 million. Over the years, the contract reportedly grew to become more than $200 million.

The reports and rumors floating around the golf community indicate a potential breakup between the two and a newly formed deal with Taylormade. If the deal does go through, Woods will probably surpass his PGA Tour buddy Rory McIlroy’s brilliant record.

The contract between Tiger Woods and Nike was not severed when Woods went through a controversial time, however, as he came back from his deathly accident, the 82x PGA Tour pro was seen sporting Foot Joy shoes at the 2023 Master. Woods’s actions raised a lot of questions regarding his equation with the sports giant.

Although neither of the sides has officially confirmed the rumors, Woods has been seen consistently wearing FootJoys on various occasions. Adding fuel to the fire, the No Laying Up podcast speculated that the final round of the PNC Championship might mark the last time Woods dons Nike apparel.

On the other hand, the 15x major champion gave a cryptic “I’m still wearing them,” answer when faced with his contract question. Amidst all the rumors floating in the community about Woods and Nike breaking up, TaylorMade has released a tease with Woods on their X, igniting the rumors further.

The post displays a picture of Woods cosplaying Santa Claus and the caption reads, “Return of the Mac…Tomorrow.” The tease very well could hint at Woods’s newest partnership with TaylorMade, extending his golf equipment contract made in 2017 when Nike left the equipment industry, and topping that of Rory McIlroy.
