The 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am just ended abruptly after 54 holes! With the event cut short, Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Aberg, and Matthieu Pavon gained podium finishes. This event was especially important for Aberg, as he was nearing a lesser-known record set by Tiger Woods in his very early days.
The Swedish golfer ended up finishing one stroke behind Clark, settling for a runner-up spot. This feat did boost his OWGR, as he now sits in the 11th spot. Unfortunately, it was not enough to surpass the record set by the 48-year-old. Aberg was competing with Woods to become the fastest player to reach rank 11 in the world after turning pro since the inception of OWGR.

The 15-time major winner has retained his record of reaching the spot in 17 events. Ludvig Aberg managed to claim the 11th spot after 18 events, again settling for a runner-up spot. While Aberg has a long way to go to reach the stature of the legendary golfer, his debut has reminded people of Woods’s early days. And in some areas, the Swedish golfer has surpassed the 48-year-old!
Comparison between Tiger Woods and Ludvig Aberg
Since turning pro in 2023, the Swedish golfer has surpassed everyone’s expectations. Naturally, comparisons with the best in the game are bound to happen. Watching his play, a PGA Tour pro said, “I didn’t really know who he was. After playing six holes with him, I thought he was the next f—ing Tiger Woods.”

Like in his debut tournament, Aberg had a better finish than Woods. He finished in the 25th spot, while the legendary golfer was in the 60th position on his debut. The 24-year-old also debuted on the European team in the Ryder Cup 2023, becoming the first player in history to ever compete in the biennial event without playing in any majors. Notably, he also went on to win the tournament in his first-ever year of turning pro.

Comparing the first two seasons, Tiger Woods has a record that speaks for itself. He secured the top spot in two events, five top-5 finishes, and seven top-25 finishes in the eight events he took part in. On the other hand, Ludvig Aberg played in 13 PGA Tour events and 4 DP World Tour events in his debut season. He was able to secure a maiden win each on both Tours! Furthermore, he had eight top-25 finishes on the PGA Tour and three on the DP World Tour.
