Harry Kane is one of the most prolific goal-scorers in soccer. After spending the majority of his career with the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, he moved to the Bundesliga last year. He had an immediate impact at Bayern Munich F.C. scoring 36 goals in the league in his first season. As impactful as he is, he hasn’t had much taste of championship glory.
He probably achieved his greatest achievement for the Spurs by becoming the runner-up in the Champions League. While his on-field success has not been as desirable as other elite soccer players, he could still accomplish one of his dreams off the field. Harry Kane recently revealed the complete story behind his encounter with the legendary Tiger Woods. So what did the 31-year-old have to say?

In a candid interview for The Rick Shiels Golf Show with Rick Shiels & Guy Charnock, Harry Kane shared his incredible experience during one of his trips in 2017. Kane said he has the habit of holidaying in the Bahamas with his family when he gets time off from soccer. He had a trip planned for 4 days. During one of these trips, he met a local pro golfer he was familiar with. After catching up for a brief moment, the pro mentioned he was playing Tiger Woods that afternoon and asked if Kane wanted to join them.
Kane expressed his excitement about meeting the Tiger in the park. He didn’t want to seem too eager, so he just asked the pro to drop him a message if that happened. He carried on with his day with his wife as they went to meet a few friends at their house for lunch. Regrettably, there was no reception at the friend’s house, causing Kane to worry about not receiving any messages from the professional.
A few hours pass before Kane and his wife leave their friend’s house. In comes those notification tones. As he scrolled down, he realized the pro had invited Kane to join Woods on the 9th hole about an hour ago. Kane texted the pro back asking if they were still playing and received a confirmation that Woods had asked them to meet on the 14th.

Kane rushed back to his place, got ready for the meeting, and was on his way to the course pretty quickly. As he reached the 14th, Woods was just finishing up the hole. They had a quick introduction and moved on to the 15th hole. “I’m flustered, I’m nervous like I’m excited,” said Kane as he was teeing off on the par 5. Confirming that he hadn’t warmed up before the shot, he said he hit a nice drive to kick things off. “I’m just thinking ‘just hit this ball in the air’,” as he stated his golf was still quite ‘erratic’ at that stage.
As he hit a nice drive down the fairway, Kane said, “Teed it up high, hit this good drive into the fairway“. Kane was eager to impress Woods right off the first stroke.
He mentioned, “I was off the first tee. At least like Tiger knows I can hit the ball. I’m not a chopper.”
Kane was thrilled that it was a short par 5, and he got the opportunity to show his skills as he landed close to the green after his second stroke. Regarding approaching the green for his third shot, Harry Kane said, “I kind of got this. It’s a simple chip.” However, he was concerned about the unpredictable nature of the Bermuda grass, stating that ‘anything can happen‘ there.
Kane chipped the ball and landed about 3 feet away from the hole. “He thinks I’m a proper golfer now,” as Kane putt in for a birdie. Tiger Woods ended up scoring a par on the hole. Meeting Woods for the first time and scoring 1 under him is not something many people can say. But that’s not where things ended. Let’s find out what happened next.

Beyond the Birdie
Harry Kane admitted that he should have ended the game right there and shook hands with Woods. As said that, “We played 16, 17, 18. I think I bogey, par, bogey after that.” They moved on to catching up in the clubhouse after the 18th. They also met up in the evening where Kane got to know Woods personally as they talked about family and life. As Kane prepared to leave, Woods asked him, “I’m playing 18 tomorrow if you want to play.”
In response to the amazing opportunity he received, the English soccer player said, “So then I ended up playing 18 with him the next morning.” Considering that they were in the Bahamas for only a few more days, Kane told his wife, “I just said sorry. Sorry Kate, like Tiger kind of trumped anything here.”
