Tiger Woods is among the famous names to play in the 2022 PGA Championship. But unlike him, the defending champion and Woods’ long-time rival, Phil Mickelson, is not competing at Southern Hills this week. The 15-time major championship winner recently spoke about Phil and revealed if he has reached out to the six-time major championship winner or not.

Tiger spoke about Mickelson and various other things in his press conference on Tuesday at Southern Hills Country Club. The American professional revealed if he had talked to Phil during these challenging times.

Not to forget, Lefty has been on a break from competitive golf since February when he publically apologized for his comments on the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed golf league. Tiger also talked about the difference of opinions he has with Phil on the functioning of the Tour.

Why has Tiger Woods not reached out to Phil Mickelson?

Tiger revealed the real reason for not reaching out to Phil, claiming that it wasn’t because of a personal reason.

Tiger said, “I have not reached out to him. I have not spoken to him. A lot of it has not to do with I think personal issues. It was our viewpoints of how the TOUR should be run and could be run, and what players are playing for and how we are playing for it. I have a completely different stance on, and so no, I have not.”

He added, “I don’t know what he’s going through. But I know the comments he made about the TOUR and the way that it should be run, it could be run; it could be run differently and I just have a very different opinion on that. And so no, I have not reached out to him.”

Tiger is currently in Southern Hills preparing for his appearance at the 2022 PGA Championship. As for Mickelson, who has been on a break from golf since February this year, he initially was to tee up at the event. However, only recently, the officials released a statement announcing Phil’s withdrawal from the tournament.
