Rob McNamara is Tiger Woods’ long-time friend and a practice partner. So he revealed when Tiger is at his best, he generally uses a 9-box grid. And he tries to play a shot in each of those boxes and plays it like tic-tac-toe.

“The dead center would obviously be the center kind of tic-tac-toe,” revealed Rob. “One up would be a little bit higher down would be almost the stinger and then a cut.”

Furthermore, he said Woods kind of sees it like windows, and this is how he pictures it all in his mind. Therefore, Tiger envisions a tic-tac-toe grid while practicing on the range, and tries to get his ball in each square. He can pull off these kinds of practice sessions because this is how his mind works. It’s mostly based on visualization.
However, not many golfers can try this, as everyone has their practice routine. Moreover, it is difficult to visualize these 9-box grids and aim at those because you don’t have anything solid to aim for. But then that’s what makes Tiger Woods the greatest golfer of all time.

Coming to Woods’ current standings- he is still recovering from the car crash that occurred in February 2021. Even though he can walk without crutches, Woods believes he still doesn’t have the strength to walk 72 holes. Consequently, he needs a bit of time before making a comeback on the PGA Tour.
