Tiger Woods is rightly one of the greatest golfers of all time. Having numerous accolades and records to his name, he has rightly succeeded in building upon a legacy to cherish for a lifetime. While he enjoyed massive success on the professional front, he failed to replicate it on his personal front.

Already a prominent name in the name, Woods married former Swedish model, Elin Nordegren in 2004. However, going through unpleasant happenings in their relationship, the two announced their divorce in 2010. Making the public announcement, it was with his then toddler kids that he had to face the actual grind.

Six years after the divorce, in 2016, Woods indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, he revealed the way he went about disclosing the hard truth to his children, Charlie and Sam Woods.

Heading into the conversation, Woods started by saying, “I’ve told [Nordegren] this, I’ve taken the initiative with the kids, and told them up front.”

Having the joint custody of their children, Woods and Nordegren have made sure to not let the scar in their relationship affect the lives of the young ones. Going ahead in the conversation, Woods elaborated on his attempt to educate the children about the divorce.

“Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy,” he said to his children. “Is because Daddy made some mistakes.”

As mentioned earlier, Wood has been one of the most prominent entities of the game. Goes without saying, his personal life has also been public property. Understanding the growing age of his children, he put out the reason behind his word with them.

“I just want them to understand before they get to Internet age and they log on to something or have their friends tell them something, ” he said. “I want it to come from me so that when they come of age, I’ll just tell them the real story,” he further said.

12 years since the separation, Woods and Nordegren have made sure to keep the best for their children. In their teens, both kids today enjoy the pride of being called Tiger Woods’ children. Walking in the shoes of his father, Charlie has also started playing golf and teamed up with Woods to play the PNC Championship.
