In 2006, before his father’s demise, Woods made peace with the fact that he did not have much time left with his father, as his condition was deteriorating. It was a tour of the Coronado BUD/S compound (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training). Here, recruits were trained to become SEALs. Most classes had 200 students, but few could graduate because of the challenging level of the training. Woods spoke to Class 259 and poured his heart out. What Woods said was unexpected when he said he wanted to be a SEAL.
The instructors rolled their eyes as they had seen even the Olympic winners quitting before finishing the training. But Woods did not care and kept saying he would have been a SEAL if it wasn’t for golf. He then passed down his wisdom to the trainees and told them about mental preparation and focus.

Woods’ unprecedented love for SEALs
After his father’s demise, Woods was broken as his father, the late Earl Woods, played a noteworthy role in making Woods what he is today. Post losing his father; Woods again visited the SEAL training compound. He was back there because his father told him he would become a golfer or a special operations soldier.
According to the instructor, he genuinely wanted to know about the way of life of the SEALs. He finally ended up experiencing what he might have been if it wasn’t for golf.
