The great career of Tiger Woods that we see now, as his records show, isn’t just the smooth road that he followed. You see things weren’t the easiest for the greatest golfer, starting with divorce, injuries, and cases. Even when he thought of retiring, 2018 kind of changed his perspective.

Despite the tough times he saw, fans supported him whenever he was on the course. We all remember the epic scene of the 2018 Tour Championship, right? Tee boxes and fairways were filled elbow to elbow, 10, 15-deep, with fans! “It’s your time,” a female fan said. “You’ve got this, Tiger,” screamed another man. When Woods made that birdie on the 13th hole, the crowd exploded. Just moments later, East Lake witnessed a second eruption of cheers from the Grey Goose 19th hole and other hospitality tents. There was a TV delay that showed the putt drop.

As the 82x Tour winner got closer to the win, the crowd got too excited. Fans climbed trees, and dads placed daughters on their shoulders for better sight. Spontaneous chants of “U-S-A” and “Ti-ger, Ti-ger” broke out. “That was a little bit like that, but not this fevered pitch,” Woods said after his win during his press conference. Moments like these are hard to forget, for Tiger, for us, and for the world!

Recent video posted on the official page of the PGA Tour, showed Tiger Woods at the PGA Studio watching his video of the 2018 Tour Championship. He relived the epic moment. After the video, he was asked, “Now Tiger, you describe it as all hell broke loose. We see the images all around you right now of that sea of people and what it was like to be there.”

Answering that, Woods shared, “When Rory and I came off the tee the people were starting to break under the ropes. Police officers were trying to keep things at Bay. But once we got our second shot and started to walk down, it became pandemonium.” He shared this experience laughingly.

Continuing further, he stated it was the evolution of the Tour Championship. He pointed out how earlier people used to clap, but now that everyone has a phone in their hand, they yell and record. Sharing about what gets him a ‘big kick,’ he said, “It was funny when one of the side angles to see all the sea of arms out leaning forward with the cameras forward. I get a big kick out of that.”

“The fans are everything in our sport. That’s the excitement. Hey, I am a fan too. I love golf. I grew up in it, I love to watch it and I love being part of it. And for them to have that moment, and for me to share that moment with them, through all the hard work and the procedures that I have had. They showed the warmer embrace of this old guy coming back and climbing the mountain all over again,” Tiger Woods shared his perspective and joy at being the fan’s favorite.
