Woods mentioned how he had somehow lost touch with McIlroy over the last few years. But this year brought the two close again. “We text or call or conference call, it was like almost every other day,” he said. Talking about the golfer’s personality, Woods said, “the best way to describe Rory is he’s only 33 years old. But he’s, he’s an old soul.”.

Thankfully, Woods didn’t just leave things to that statement. He continued to explain how McIlroy was a lot more mature than people his age. “Not only well read, but just so articulate about life,” Woods said. “He gets the big picture. And not every younger person understands the big picture.”

Noticeably, Woods didn’t want to belong to that category. “I’m not that old.” Woods laughed. “Don’t throw me in there.” Woods and McIlroy have a long way to go together. The PGA Tour loyalists are now partners on the field. And Woods is hoping to play better than him in upcoming tournaments.
