After 13 years of working with Steve Williams, Tiger Woods hired Joe LaCava to assist him in 2011. The G.O.A.T. hasn’t won many tournaments with his new caddie. However, the 15-time major champion was able to create plenty of memories with him. Helping LaCava change his one-strap bag to a double-strap bag is one of them, although that ultimately led his son into mocked him!
According to Joe LaCava, he never liked wearing the double-strapped bag to carry the clubs. “I just wouldn’t do it,” he said during his latest appearance on the Dan Patrick Show. “It just looked funny to me. It felt funky the whole nine yards.”

As he got older and joined Woods as his caddie, the golfer insisted he gets a double-strapped bag for extra support. Although LaCava didn’t like it, the golfer got him the bag in 2018 before the BMW Championship in Philadelphia to carry the clubs. “It’s very uncomfortable. I can’t stand the thing,” he added.
Notably, Woods shot 62 in the first round that week, which led LaCava into getting hundreds of messages. Interestingly, he also got a text from his son; however, it was not the congratulatory message he had hoped for!
Joe LaCava Jr.’s message to his father
“Double Strap? Soft!” It was LaCava’s son’s way to express his thoughts on his father carrying a double-strapped bag to carry Woods’ golf equipment.
