“Nothing in life is promised except death” – Kanye West, 47th Annual Grammy Awards, 2005.

But the promises we keep in memory of the dead make them live longer. The world of golf received the heartbreaking news of the GOAT’s mother, Kultida Woods passing a few days ago. Tiger Woods has since been a shell of himself, not being able to muster the courage to pursue golf. He tried to show a brave face by confirming his participation in the 2025 Genesis Invitational. But soon announced his withdrawal as he couldn’t cope with the unending sadness.

Honoring Woods’ mom, the event is swapping the seventh hole flag at Torrey Pines South for a plain white one. This gesture is deeply symbolic, reflecting her Buddhist faith. But now it seems that Woods is coming back to the course; indoor. It all connects to the promise he made to his mother—“I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss.”

TWLEGION shared a tweet confirming the squad of the next TGL match. Jupiter Links GC will go up against the New York GC on February 18, 2025, at 7 PM (EST). Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner will be accompanied by Tiger Woods in the arena for the match.

And there is no question that Woods would be in a competitive mode. After all, he did promise Kultida Woods that he was going to play well in TGL a couple of weeks ago. It actually made it to the list of 5 of the best moments from Match 4 of TGL. Whatever the reason, it is great to see the 82x PGAT winner back in action, even if it’s just a distraction.

What can the fans expect to see in Tiger Woods’s third TGL match? Let’s take a look at the other team and records so far.

Tiger Woods’s next TGL match preview

“Hi, Mom! I’m not going to suck tonight!” noised Woods with glee at his mother during one of the latest TGL games. So, there is no question that he would be completely zoned in on the action on Presidents Day. After all, he has to keep his promise to his mother. The trio of Woods, Kim, and Kisner were victorious in their last match against Rory McIlroy & Co.’s Boston Common Golf. Going with the same winning squad and an eager Tiger Woods definitely makes them the favorites to win the match on February 18, 2025.

On the opposing side, the New York GC will feature Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young, and Matt Fitzpatrick. Unfortunately, Xander Schauffele is unavailable as he is recovering from an injury. The world no. 2 confirmed in a PGA Tour interview that he is “Sidelined” for now. Speaking of New York GC’s record, it seems that they haven’t had a good time in TGL so far. In both their matches, Rickie Fowler & Co. have failed to impress and suffered big losses.

Considering the situation of both the teams, one would probably put their bets on the Jupiter Links GC. However, Tiger Woods’s emotional state might prove to be a challenge for them. So it wouldn’t be surprising to see the New York GC picking up their first TGL win.
