Tiger Woods' caddie skills questioned—Is this a sign of his human side or just plain funny?

The 2023 PNC Championship was quite special for Tiger Woods because, for the first time, he had both his children inside the rope doing the one thing he loves a lot, golf. While he was making the fifth appearance with Charlie Woods at the father-son event, Sam Woods caddying for her father took the golf world by surprise. After it was her first golf event with her brother and father. Although the trio did not win the event, they finished T5, and the experience itself was better than the winning belt.

In the press conference of the event, Woods was asked how it felt to have his eldest daughter on the bag, and he obviously loved it. But Charlie Woods was asked how his father, the 82-time PGA Tour winner, was as his looper. The 48-year-old had caddied for the junior golfer at many amateur events, and they love to needle each other on or off the course. Oh well, the answer was not what anyone expected.

Recounting how Woods is as a bagman, the 15-year-old amateur said, “Dad as a caddie; I mean he his reads hook bias and I don’t hook as much as he does, so all my putts, I miss right. So, I have to account for that.” The answer even caught Woods offbeat as he looked confused. The next time you see Charlie Woods on the greens missing a putt and Woods carrying it on his bag, you know who to blame! Even he agreed in the press conference and said, “We just su-k at putting” and laughter ensured. Woods might not be a bad caddie, it just seems that his caddying might not be suiting Woods Jr. But he still is his instructor on and off the course and the best one he can get.

Even though it was a casual and fun shade at his father’s caddying skills, it is not the first time the amateur golfer has made fun of his father just a little. This time it was about how he was in the bag. One time he was taken aback by his golfing skills.

Charlie Woods was shocked by his father’s game

It was the 2022 PNC Championship, and Tiger Woods had played only three events in that season. It was his second year after the 2021 car accident, so Woods had lost his form. The duo finished last at the 2022 PNC Championship, and as they approached the press conference, Charlie Woods was asked what he learned about his father’s game. At that time, Woods was not playing as someone who had won 5 green jackets and 10 other majors, and that really shocked the 15-year-old golfer.

He answered the question with a bit of sarcasm and said, “I feel like I already knew what he was capable of, and then yesterday, that’s the best he’s ever played in a while, and that kind of shocked me a little bit. That’s really it.” The 48-year-old pro could only laugh, saying, “I used to be good.” The father-son duo is always there for each other and having fun.

The 2024 PNC Championship will start on December 19, and Woods has not yet confirmed his appearance. The 15-time major winner underwent microdecompression surgery for a pinched nerve and is currently in recovery. So, this time there are more chances that Woods may miss the PNC Championship for the first time in six years. Regardless, his return is hopeful, as the surgery was a minor one that his other five and he may tee up with Charlie Woods and share these special moments on the course.
