During his divorce in 2010, the golf star saw more than a few allegations fly around about him. Among those about his supposed scandal, there was another dark rumor in the air, which was that Elin had hit Woods with a golf club.

Elin was rumored to have hit Tiger Woods

2009 was the year Tiger’s career was at his peak. It was also the year things began to roll downhill in his marriage. Late in November 2009, Tiger’s scandal came to light. Soon after, Tiger hit his car into a fire hydrant and then crashed it into a tree. He lost consciousness for at least six minutes. He had suffered some serious injuries.

Woods was found near his 2009 Escalade with a pillow under his head and a blanket over him. He was coming in and out of consciousness. His car’s rear windows were smashed. The neighbors who ran out saw Elin with a golf club in her hand.

According to rumors, when Elin learned of the golf legend’s alleged scandal, she became enraged and grabbed a 9-iron from the side and stuck him with it. She then supposedly chased him out and battered his car with the club. She then chased Tiger in a golf cart as he drive off and crashed into the tree.

Nordegren responded to the allegations against her

A year after the incident, after the couple went through a messy divorce, Elin spoke with PEOPLE. There, she discussed the events of the night and addressed the speculations. “There was never any violence inside or outside our home,” she said.

She added that the whole idea that she could have ever hit Tiger was “truly ridiculous.” She explained the actuality of the incident that had occurred and said, “When I found him in the car. I did everything I could to get him out of the locked car.” Nordegren claimed to have used the club she was seen with to help extricate him.

Even though Elin had publicly addressed the rumors, many people did not believe her story. But Elin was firm with her word. “To think anything else is absolutely wrong,” she stated.
