Rewind to 2001. Elin Nordegren was nannying for Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik. The former Swedish model may have had a connection to golf through Parnevik, but it was this same year that made the sport a permanent fixture in Nordegren’s life. A constant. That’s because destiny (which, in this case, is Parnevik) led her to Tiger Woods, and three years later, they got married. However, while Woods may have been her first love, golf likely wasn’t.

Elin Nordegren interestingly had (and has) a love for an array of sports even before fate embedded golf in her life. But once it did – even though her marriage with Woods ended in divorce in 2010 – Nordegren’s love for golf is being carried forward through her support for Charlie Woods.

As the 15-year-old is following in the footsteps of his father, Nordegren was there to support him at a PGA Tour pre-qualifier this past week. At the 2020 PNC Championship, Charlie’s golf game became a major highlight. Outside the ropes, Elin’s presence to watch the action from up close with daughter Sam came in unison with what was one of the first portrayals of Tiger Woods, the sports dad.

Per a Golf journalist from Action Network, while the 2022 PNC Championship was ongoing, Elin was away as she gave birth to a baby the same week. To commemorate the happy news, Tiger Woods made a special request. He wanted a camera on him and Charlie by the first tee. After he and Charlie hit their tee shots, they had a special message for Elin from the green. They looked into the camera and congratulated Elin.

PNC Championship has seen such wholesome moments of co-parenting from the Woods household. But there is no denial that Elin’s love for sports has several layers. So which other sports does she enjoy?

As a matter of fact, the sports enthusiast has a particular liking for skiing, so much so that it seems like her go-to activity during the winter (if past reports are anything to go by). Back in 2010, when she was still married to Tiger Woods, Nordegren rang in the New Year during a vacation in southeast France. Overlooking Mont Blanc, she spent her time in a luxury ski resort in Les Houches. And she had her twin sister and a few other close friends for company!

More recently, in 2016, she visited the Swiss Alps with her now ex-boyfriend, Chris Cline. They were on a ski trip in St. Moritz and were pictured on the snowy slopes, with Cline kissing her on the cheek. Whether or not skiing was her first sport love, we may never know. But we do know that she enjoys it. And as it turns out, it isn’t the only sporting activity the 44-year-old has indulged in.

Following her publicized divorce, things were quite tough for the former model. “She has not been herself lately. This has taken a heavy toll on her,” a source told RadarOnline. Wanting to start over, Nordegren decided to focus on herself and started training for a triathlon. In fact, she was often spotted bicycling in her neighborhood to further her skills in the multi-sport endurance race.

Preparing for the triathlon was an important aspect of how sports helped Charlie Woods’ mother through a tough time in her life. The then-“quiet and upset” Nordegren turned to her strict training regime to help her emotional state. Although her divorce ended Elin Nordegren’s marital relationship with Tiger Woods, did it also end her liking for golf?

Through her support for Charlie Woods, Nordegren showed her love for her son and golf

Does Elin Nordegren dislike golf? The short answer to this is no. Even though the former swimsuit model enjoys skiing during the winter (and occasionally participating in triathlons), she is not indifferent to the holistic game of golf. In fact, she has a genuine passion for the sport and is often seen playing on her own schedule and terms.

Her presence on golf courses, which once used to be to support her ex-husband, Tiger Woods, has now carried on through her appearances for Charlie. When Charlie Woods made his debut at the 2020 PNC Championship, his mother was standing on the sidelines, cheering him on. And this week, as the 15-year-old participated in the pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic, she was there yet again.

That being said, it’s evident that she loves a lot more than just golf. And her love for the world of sports is truly as diverse as possible.
