Remember when the World No. 1 had to go to jail in Valhalla? Pretty clearly! Right? Seven months later, the subject came up again but all in good humor. All thanks to Kai Trump. The much-awaited The Showdown is all set to kickstart any minute now. Kai Trump is also there at the Shadow Creek Golf Course to enjoy the match, and before the tournament began, she interviewed Scottie Scheffler on the course.

She asked the 2x Masters winner to state his name, and after he did, she said, “Scottie, you’re too nice, but how was jail?” The American professional cheekily replied, “You know, honestly it was a bit boring. There’s not much to do in there. I was in the cell by myself, and you were just sitting there looking at the walls, so it was a little boring.”

Scottie Scheffler was arrested ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship as he came to the scene of a fatal crash. The #1 dragged a police officer who was directing traffic. He was detained, and a photo of his mugshot went viral before he was released. The allegations were later dropped off.

But well, the interaction had another name too. Tiger Woods. In May 2017, Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in Jupiter, Florida. The arrest occurred in the early morning hours when Woods was found asleep at the wheel of his car, which was parked on the side of the road with the engine running. According to police reports, he was not impaired by alcohol but had a combination of prescription medications in his system, including painkillers and sedatives, which led to his arrest.

After a thorough investigation, it was revealed that his intoxication was due to the adverse effects of the medications rather than alcohol. He cooperated with authorities during the arrest, and video footage released by the police showed Woods struggling with his balance during the field sobriety tests. Taking to this, Kai Trump also added, “I mean, orange is not a bad color, though, on you. So you pulled it off, just like Tiger Woods”. To this, Scottie Scheffler humorously replied, “I prefer the burnt orange a little bit more than the jail cell orange.”

Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler were not among the only golfing legends who had to serve time in jail. Even the Bad Boy of Golf was once caught behind bars.

John Daly was taken into custody in 2008

John Daly’s smoking and drinking habits are not unknown to the world. The golf community remembers how he used to come to the tournaments hungover. Well, this had to get him into trouble at some point.

In 2008, he was found unconscious, face down, outside the Hooters in North Carolina. Employees there asked him to leave several times but the golfer could barely move. A few moments later, the police arrived, and he was being treated by paramedics. According to the reports, unlike Scottie Scheffler or Tiger Woods, he was intoxicated and did not cooperate throughout the process at all.  He was taken into custody at Winston-Salem in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center and was put up there for a day.

He was furious with himself for his actions, especially since Hooters had been mixed up in the controversy. He said, “I’ve never had an incident at Hooters. I hate that their name is brought into it this way.” The golf pro went on to say that he was aware that he might have to let him go. He stated, “[They] probably have to terminate me because of the negative publicity.”
