Tiger Woods has undoubtedly ruled the sport of golf for quite some time. The golf legend has won 15 Major titles making him stand out from all of his competitors in the past 2 decades. Today, we compare the golf icon’s status in the sport to the Tennis legends Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Roger Federer has been a dominant force ever since his first Grand Slam win back in 2004. Between 2004 and 2010, Federer had won 16 Grand Slam Titles. However, he has struggled to maintain that same form just like his former fellow Nike athlete, Tiger Woods, who also won the most in his career during the same period.

After the year 2010, a young Novak Djokovic arrived at the scene and took over the sport of tennis in such a short span of time. Apart from the Australian Open win in 2008, the rest of Djokovic’s 21 Grand Slam wins came after 2011. Despite the domination of both the tennis stars, they still didn’t manage to hold the number 1 rank combined, as compared to how long Tiger Woods did.
Tiger Woods dominance in relation to Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer combined
Kyle Porter, who is a popular golf journalist recently tweeted an astonishing stat that showed how many weeks Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic have spent on the number one position in their respective rankings. The stat might blow your mind.
Stat I unearthed on vacation this week that astonished me.
Tiger weeks at No. 1 — 683
Federer + Djokovic weeks at No. 1 — 683— Kyle Porter (@KylePorterCBS) July 29, 2022
According to Porter, the number of weeks Woods had spent at the top is 683 weeks. While the number of weeks spent at number one by both Federer and Djokovic combined is also 683 weeks. Though Woods is placed by the World Golf Rankings and both Tennis stars are ranked by the ATP, the stat is still remarkable.
A lot of factors could play a major role in the rankings. During the reign of Tiger Woods, though a lot of people gave him a tough fight, none were able to overtake his throne. Whereas when it comes to the Tennis stars, we live in an era where we are witnessing the best generational talents all competing at the same time.

Though Federer conquered the sport in the mid-2000s, his reign was short-lived with the arrival of Rafael Nadal. As years passed by, Djokovic too had to face tough competition from both of these stars including Andy Murray.
Despite the stats, all three athletes are highly respected and admired for their dedication to their sports. As the famous saying from J. Cole goes, “They act like two legends cannot coexist,” we must respect all the G.O.A.T.s while we can.
Who among the three is your favorite athlete? Let us know in the comments down below.
