The history has been the evident proof of the 15-time major champion’s talent. For his first win at Torrey Pines, Woods showed a great comeback from being just making a cut by two. After the tough situation, in the third round, he scored 62 which is still the record at the South Course.

Later in the final round, he continued on tie with Billy Ray Brown till the 71st hole. However, Woods eagled the par-5 18th for the victory run with a score of 65. Sharing the experience, Billy Ray Brown said, “I hit it so fat — I hit the big ball before the little ball. I made par, and his eagle putt went in like a rat diving into a hole, as his putts always seem to do. Incredible.”

2003 Buick Invitational

After a three-month-long injury break because of his left knee fluid removal. Tiger Woods made a comeback to the course at the event. After 54-hole, Woods led by 1 stroke over Brad Faxon and 2 strokes over Phil Mickelson. Breaking the odd year’s pattern, after beating Lehman and Donald the previous year, Woods started his run for the career win no. 47th. The match was so intense that until the final hole, Nathan Green, Jose Maria Olazabal, and Tiger Woods birdied and ended with 10 under par. The last two rounds were 69-66 for his 15 under par total, beating Charles Howell III by 2 strokes. After the event, Howell III shared, “You feel like you are hopping in the ring with Mike Tyson and there is a pre-understood outcome. But at the same time, what an experience.”

After 54-holes, 8 strokes lead over Stewart Cink, then by 72-holes 8 strokes lead over Ryuji Imada. Cink shared about Woods’ performance, “It was a golf course that was just made for him. It was long, there was a lot of rough, it was a physical challenge, and he was physically superior to anyone else playing golf at that time.”

2008 U.S. Open

After having a win in the same year, on the same course, the golfer would have confidence. However, for Woods, it was different, as he was struggling with a torn ligament in his left knee and a double stress fracture in his left tibia. Despite the injuries, he went on to birdie the 72nd hole to push for a 19-hole playoff with Rocco Mediate.
