Tiger Woods and Nike’s partnership still appears to be in limbo. Although no official announcement has come from either side, information on Nike’s website indicates that the partnership is perhaps in its last leg. It should be noted that the last contract between two long-time partners was slated to end in 2023. Furthermore, the veteran golfer hasn’t sported the familiar Swoosh in more than a year.

The first time Woods ditched Nike in favor of FootJoy shoes, both parties issued separate statements, quelling any rumors. However, that has been the last official communication from the apparel giant, who were working on a shoe that fits Woods’s needs. While that has been hard to come by, recent developments also hint towards a negative outcome for the brand.

Tiger Woods and Nike might part ways sooner than later

TW Legion tweeted that Nike is not restocking the shoe sizes for Tiger Woods’s signature line as of now. Moreover, TW apparel remains in very limited quantity in Nike’s stores. Interestingly, the 15-time Major winner owns the copyright to the ‘TW’ logo that appears on Nike’s products. So, that gives rise to the speculation that the 48-year-old might follow in Michael Jordan’s footsteps by taking his signature shoe line to a different brand.

Woods, in fact, was asked about his partnership with Nike as recently as last December. However, the 82-time PGA Tour winner vaguely answered, “I’m still wearing their product.” Further probing only elicited a similar response from the veteran, who was seen wearing Footjoy shoes in the recently concluded PNC Championship as well.

Notably, Charlie Woods, the veteran golfer’s 14-year-old son, has partnered with Greyson Clothiers, per reports. The brand’s official Instagram handle re-shared a story welcoming the teenager to their family. Although it was deleted later, Woods Jr. wore Greyson clothes in the 2023 PNC Championship.

Reports also indicate that Nike is planning to run its golf business through two original equipment manufacturers, prompting an exodus of stars from the brand. Most recently, former world no. 1 Jason Day severed his ties with the $176 billion apparel giant.

Where does Nike stand with other golfers?

Nike has suffered a setback from Jason Day, who ended his seven-year partnership with the megabrand. Day, looking for a breath of fresh air, has tied up with Malbon Golf, an LA-based fashion brand. However, Tom Kim, Tommy Fleetwood, and Scottie Scheffler continue to sport the Swoosh.

Scheffler famously uses Nike Air Zoom Tiger Woods kicks, which are also a favorite of the rising South Korean star, Tom Kim. Fleetwood, on the other hand, sports TW’13, a fan favorite among Woods’s signature shoe line. All three arrived in Maui for the Sentry TOC donning Nike apparel.
