If someone asks a golf enthusiast from the 1980s and 1990s to define the 2023 US Senior Open winner, one would probably go with the word exceptional. Exactly that is how well-tuned the golfer was with his game. This even allowed him to be crowned Masters champion twice which isn’t an easy feat to achieve.

But, even more remarkable about the golfer is his PGA Tour Champions journey. After joining the league in 2007, the German golfer has set numerous records. In fact, it has become a habit for him, given that he has at least one win in each of his sixteen years. Now, this year again with a win at the US Senior Open, he has again carved a record that won’t be easy to break.

The 43rd US Senior Open witnessed a phenomenal game of golf. While most of the senior golfers showcased their brilliance on the greens, one golfer, in particular, stood out from the rest. It was none other than the 65-year-old, Bernhard Langer! The golfer, despite a few mishaps, was able to control his nerves and took home $720, 000 out of the $4 million prize bag.

However, more astonishing than his victory was the number associated with it. His 46th PGA Tour Champions win ascended him to the top of the tree. Following his victory in February at the Chubb Classic, he was tied with Hale Irwin at 45 wins.

Although, a win on Sunday pushed him to not only become the oldest winner but also the “all-time winningest player in Champions Tour history”. The feat isn’t an easy one and what adds to the glamour of it is how humble Langer is when talking about it. This still did not prevent one of the Twitter accounts to connect the record with the legendary Tiger Woods.

Has Bernhard Langer set the bar too high?

While the record is difficult to break, nothing is impossible in the world of sports. Along similar lines, a Twitter user could not help but mention Tiger Woods alongside Bernhard Langer’s No.46 win. He said that the task to overpower this mega record would not be a light chase when Woods moves to senior golf.

As per the user, it is a “next level” record in itself; one that Tiger would want to break. While we may not have any confirmation on whether this assumption is true or not, the fans for sure provided some strong input from their sides.

Fans react to Langer’s 46 PGA  Tour Champions wins and a possible ambitious goal for Tiger Woods

The inclusion of Tiger Woods into the conversation by one of the Twitter users received a different stance from the fans. A couple of them focused on Woods’ current health status and did not believe the golfer would even play in the senior league. One of them said, “Lol Tiger has 0.0% of touching any senior PGA record. Probably 0% chance of even winning a senior event.

One disagreed with the previous comment. He said Tiger would want to have a go at it.

One fan said that he will be surprised if the G.O.A.T can play 20 senior events.

Ultimately, most fans believed Mr.T would not be interested in PGA Tour Champions.

Despite the tweet mentioning Woods taking away the limelight from Langer’s win for a moment, fans did not hold back from congratulating the golfer.

One of the users did not only applaud him for his victory but also appreciated the character of the professional.
