Brooks Koepka will be looking to win another major with the upcoming US Open, after his PGA Championship win last month. The former World No.1 is flying high on confidence and form after his win exploits, where he went on to earn his fifth major title.
However, hours before his scheduled press conference for the US Open, social media pages were revisited by Koepka’s attack on the media at the same stage last year. What really transpired that caused the 33-year-old to lose control over his emotions?

Brooks Koepka’s infamous ‘Black Cloud’ presser revisited
The incident occurred exactly a year ago, when LIV Golf had just come off its inaugural event. The buzz around the golf community was filled with chatter related to the breakaway league, in which Koepka got submerged too.
However, the soon-to-be father was in no mood to answer any outside questions and desired to stick with US Open queries. Still within the PGA Tour ranks, Koepka was bombarded with questions regarding his opinion on the LIV Golf Series, especially due to his brother’s allegiance to the rival league.

After a certain point in time, Koepka grew mad at the endless mentions of LIV Golf. “I’m here. I’m here at the U.S. Open. I’m ready to play U.S. Open, and I think it kind of sucks, too. You are all throwing this black cloud over the U.S. Open. It’s one of my favorite events. I don’t know why you guys keep doing that,” the two-time winner said.

The upsurge became a talking point in the days to come, which didn’t help Koepka’s cause to win the tournament. He eventually finished with a score of twelve-over par, which helped him to a 55th position. While another fiery interview isn’t expected again, can Koepka clinch yet another US Open title?

Having long maintained his sole interest in major championships, the five-time winner has been a man of his word. Indeed, Koepka’s major record is breathtaking, but at the prime of his career, alarmingly advancing.

The LIV golfer finished joint-second at the Masters Tournament earlier this year, before going one up with a victory at the PGA Championship last month.
