What a year 2024 has been for LIV Golf, and we do not say this lightly. The breakaway league continued to make waves with major developments that shook things up. For starters, Jon Rahm, undoubtedly one of the world’s top golfers, made the shocking decision to join LIV Golf, which was surely very well taken by the golf people (that was sarcasm). Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau won the US Open and later signed a lucrative deal with Reebok, which further helped cement his status as one of LIV’s biggest stars and helped the league.
And let’s not forget the numerous other signings, sponsorships, and partnerships that LIV Golf secured throughout the year. But as we bid adieu to 2024 and say bonjour to 2025, the big question on everyone’s mind is, what will change for LIV Golf in 2025?
New leadership for LIV Golf

We all know this one, right? Greg Norman in all his glory is passing the torch as CEO of LIV Golf, and honestly, it was a shocker. After being at the helm since October 2021, Norman confirmed in an interview with WISH-TV that he’ll be stepping down but not entirely leaving the scene. But wait, what does that even mean?
Well, he’ll still be involved with LIV Golf in some capacity, which honestly is great news considering the significant role he’s played in shaping the Saudi-backed circuit. Norman’s contract runs until August 2025, but it’s likely that Scott O’Neil, the former CEO of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team, will take over as CEO before the new LIV Golf season kicks off in February. It feels like the end of an era, but it was high time LIV Golf got some new methods.
Big break for LIV Golf?
LIV Golf might finally get its TV break with a reported deal with Fox Sports in the works, per GolfWeek! Uh-huh, that’s right. This can be a massive deal for LIV Golf, as they have been struggling with getting a TV partner for a while now. High-level talks are going on, which would be a major coup for the league as it enters its fourth year. It’s been a minute since Greg Norman’s brainchild actually drew in some views, for instance, less than 100,000 people tuning in to watch Jon Rahm take home the 2024 individual championship.
Interestingly, Scott O’Neil was spotted playing in a pro-am alongside key Fox Sports executives, which added more fuel to the fire about the impending deal. If it all comes together, a TV deal with Fox Sports would be a fantastic thing for LIV Golf and a major boost to its quest for a bigger footprint in the golf world. After all, LIV’s motto is Golf But Louder.! This sure will help in taking care of the Louder part.

LIV golfers received a Ryder Cup boost
You might recall the big news that broke for LIV golfers when they were given the green light to compete in the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup!“To ensure the PGA Championship will continue to deliver the strongest field in golf and that the U.S. Ryder Cup team will continue to have access to the best American players, the PGA of America board has determined that LIV Golf players will be eligible for both,” the statement by PGA of America read. “Going forward, all LIV Golf players are eligible for the PGA Championship and any American player who qualifies for the Ryder Cup on points or is added to the U.S. team as a captain’s pick is eligible to compete.” This was huge for players!
The decision meant American LIV golfers could still try out for the US Ryder Cup team, while European players could represent Team Europe, as long as they were part of the DP World Tour. Of course, qualifying wasn’t going to be a cakewalk, but this was still a major win for LIV golfers. As a side note, Sergio Garcia has already applied to rejoin the DP World Tour!
