As we all got to know recently, Blades Brown, one of golf’s top young talents, has made the bold decision to forego playing in college and turn pro, skipping the last year and a half of high school in the process. The golfer will make his pro debut at the PGA Tour’s American Express in January, following an impressive amateur career that includes becoming the youngest medalist in U.S. Amateur history in 2023.

Many don’t know, but Brown is breaking a 103-year-old record set by Bobby Jones and joining the likes of Tiger Woods and Bobby Clampett as players to win both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior, with his decision to turn pro not entirely unprecedented, as Akshay Bhatia made a similar move at 17 in 2019.

And now, as we look forward to seeing how it turns out for Brown, some more young players may turn pro in 2025.

Miles Russell

Of course, Miles Russell is topping the list of golf’s most exciting young talents! He’s already made history in 2024 by becoming the youngest player to ever make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, he followed it up with his PGA Tour debut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

What’s even more impressive is that he shot a 5-under 66 at the Lecom Suncoast Classic in April 2024. Russell’s golf journey was nothing short of amazing, with accolades including the American Junior Golf Association Player of the Year in 2023 and a whopping seven-shot win at the Junior PGA Championship.

Luke Clanton is gearing up to join the professional golf ranks, and he’s taking the fast track. He’s expected to turn pro after his final college season, and he’s got a good shot at earning a PGA Tour card through the PGA Tour University Accelerated program, which rewards college players with a PGA Tour card if they accumulate 20 points. With 16 points already accumulated—five for reaching number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and 11 more in PGA Tour events, including the RSM Classic—Clanton is just shy of the 20-point mark.

It’s exciting to think about Clanton’s potential future in golf. If he keeps up this pace, he might just find himself trading in his college golf gear for a spot alongside the pros. The PGA Tour University Accelerated program is designed to help top college players make the transition to the pros, and Clanton is one to watch.

Ian Gilligan is making waves in the golf world with his impressive performance, and his story is all the more inspiring given the challenges he’s faced. The 21-year-old golfer was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at just 15, but he’s refused to let that hold him back. After overcoming a tough health battle, he’s come back stronger than ever, racking up some seriously impressive wins on the golf course.

His big victory at the 2024 Western Amateur was a huge milestone, and earning second-team All-American honors just proves that he’s got what it takes to compete with the best. Now, with his sights set on turning pro, it’s exciting to think that we might see Gilligan make his professional debut as early as 2025. His determination and passion for golf are contagious, and we can’t help but root for this talented young golfer as he chases his dreams!
