Before joining LIV in 2022, Phil Mickelson took a break from social media. He returned with an announcement of joining the Saudi-backed circuit, and a few other tweets followed. However, this year, he is more active than ever. Everything is trending, from his tweet about Sam Ryder’s joggers to saying that LIV golfers can defeat the PGA Tour players. And he added another tweet to his list where he is seen having an online fight with a journalist.
It all started with a tweet by best-selling Scottish author Mark Eglinton. In his tweet, he called the pro golfer a “PGA Tour whistleblower we all needed.” Mickelson replied, “That day will be later this year when all of it is brought to light, and it won’t have to be from me.” The former PGA golfer clearly stated that some unknown facts would come to light. It is what the journalist in question could not figure out and hence made the tweet, forcing Mickelson to retaliate.

But did the journalist take the LIV defector’s advice?
Why did Phil Mickelson give journalistic advice to a golf writer?
Sean Zak, a well-known GOLF magazine writer, tweeted about the LIV golfer. He posted two pictures highlighting the statement by Mickelson and wrote, “Phil Mickelson keeps saying there is going to be “accountability” and “transparency” later this year.” He further added that he could not figure out what the golfer meant by his statement, “What that means, I don’t know. I’m tired of shaking this magic 8 ball.”

It did not sit well with the major championship winner. He immediately questioned Zak’s journalistic ability and revealed his disappointment. He said, “Thought you were smarter than that. Everything shouldn’t have to be spelled out and spoon fed for you. Do a little journalistic work and figure it out.” Zak was also catching up. He shared another picture of a text, but they hid everything under black ink. He said, “man, I’m trying but drowning in [redacted]” He did not feel wrong about lefty’s enunciation; instead, he replied.

Thought you were smarter than that 🤔
Everything shouldn’t have to be spelled out and spoon fed for you. Do a little journalistic work and figure it out.— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) February 2, 2023
No one has hidden the rivalry between LIV and the PGA Tour; it’s open. And Mickelson has always defended the Saudi-backed circuit. Despite the scrutiny, he left the PGA and proudly owned the decision. Currently, he is prepping for the first LIV event of the season 2023, to be held in Mayakoba later this month. However, we will have to wait until they publicly highlight the facts that Mickelson pointed out.
