The recent announcement of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf’s merger has split the golfing world in two. On one side are those who are truly delighted with the news, while on the other hand stand those who are utterly unwilling to accept it. And just like the Saudi-backed league and the Tour clashed earlier, these two occasionally clash too.
Just days prior to the merger announcement, Brandel Chamblee, who is perhaps one of the strongest anti-LIV voices, and Phil Mickelson were engaged in a Twitter argument. And now, following the merger, the golf analyst has joined the ranks of those not thrilled with the partnership.
To add more fuel to the fire, as soon as the billion-dollar merger was announced, Brooks Koepka did not think twice about adding insult to injury when it came to Chamblee. In a tweet, he made fun of the former Tour pro and wrote, “Welfare check on Chamblee.” But the analyst hasn’t taken it lying down either and now has a befitting reply for both him and his other Twitter nemesis, Mickelson, as the Chamblee vs. LIV saga continues!

Brooks Koepka ignites another Chamblee-LIV golfer feud
Soon after Brooks Koepka mocked Chamblee online, the latter responded with his own thoughts. Chamblee recently made an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show to discuss the merger. The Rich Eisen Show’s official Twitter account posted a conversation the host had with the golf analyst in which he claimed that the mereger wasn’t good news for the LIV side either.
He stated that he found it amusing that these LIV golfers believed it to be the reason for their celebration. But these LIV golfers don’t realize that Jay Monahan, the current PGA Tour commissioner, will be their boss. If the deal is approved, the fines for LIV players will be increased, and they will only be permitted to compete in the main tournaments.
“Their fines got doubled based upon their they’re gloating that day so Phil and Brooks and Bryson uh you know I just don’t think they fully understood the ramifications of this deal if it goes through that they’re out of a job they’ll have no place to play golf other than the major championships,” said the former PGA Tour golfer.

Evidently, as per Chamblee’s words, he believes that the LIV side has an uphill battle with this merger. However, all this at this point is just words and the analyst’s conjectures. And while the Saudi side faces a potential downfall soon, the Tour players face a potential uplift. After all, Monahan has a major reward planned for them!
Jay Monahan’s big promise to the PGA Tour players
Last year, Tiger Woods allegedly turned down the almost $1 billion offer LIV Golf made to him prior to the merger. Many, however, ridiculed Woods once the merger was made public, saying he ought to have accepted the offer far earlier. This novel aspect gives many viewers the sense that players who were committed to the PGA Tour were being taken advantage of. Furthermore, individuals who opted for LIV Golf were in a better financial situation. But in response to all the criticism, the Tour chief has now made a significant guarantee to the PGA Tour players.

NUCLR GOLF, a notable golf-related account, shared his promise on its official Twitter account. The post said Jay Monahan promised top PGA Tour players at the meeting that he guaranteed they would make more money in their career than those who switched to the other league.

As of right now, only one thing is certain: only time will tell if Chamblee was correct in his forecasts about the LIV golfers’ future standing, and whether Monahan’s promises are fulfilled. Who do you think will benefit more from this merger? Let us know in the comments.
