The billion-dollar merger between golf’s biggest organizations has left many bewildered. While a fortnight has passed since the huge announcement, many are still in the dark, including pro golfers.

Apparently, it looks like the less-fancied players down the leaderboard are suffering the most. One of them has grumbled about the lack of communication in the situation and how players like him felt “sold out.”

The player in question is 27-year-old Brent Grant, who earned his PGA Tour card last year. Still struggling to cement his place on the field, the Arizona resident will be teeing up on the Korn Ferry Tour this week to hone his skills to a greater extent.

However, moving away from the PGA Tour creates a bitter feeling in the golfer. Like many in the circuit, Grant heard the news of the merger through media channels. He was at the RBC Canadian Open when the news broke out, though he didn’t attend the players meeting with Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan.

“At the end of the day, they gave us no answers,” a disgruntled Grant said, as per Golfweek’s recent report. “I feel that there were more than enough guys like me at the meeting who were going to say probably the same things as me. They sprung it on us out of nowhere. We’re so in the dark, it’s hard to tell whether they made the right move or not.”

Furthermore, Grant revealed that lower-ranked players like him were missing out on any new piece of information, which left them questioning their struggles within the league. “But for guys like me, Grayson Murray, ones who have won and grinded it out to get on Tour, they kind of feel sold out. But you know, me as a rookie, ultimately they don’t even know who I am, so it doesn’t really matter,” he sadly concluded.

Why are Brent Grant and others aggrieved over their situation?

The struggle is real for less-fancied golfers such as Grant, who have to prevail in intense competition to merely compete at the highest level. While the PGA Tour players were reportedly in the dark over the merger, golfers from the Korn Ferry Tour have been vocal in their thoughts on the backlash against Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and his lack of communication.

Among them is a certain Grayson Murray, who showed ample courage in vehemently criticizing the Commissioner in the players’ meeting. It eventually led to a jibe by PGA Tour loyalist Rory McIlroy, which coaxed Murray to reply with an abuse.
