From its inception in 2022, LIV Golf has seen many controversies including a lot of ups and downs. Although the backlash to the event has reduced owing to the merger, there still exists a lot of reproach against the Saudi-backed league and its CEO, Greg Norman.
Moreover, a little while back, the PIF-funded league saw itself suffering nothing short of a major setback in regard to its viewers during the Team Championship event in Miami. However, in response to all the criticisms garnered and the hitches faced, Norman’s circuit has managed to come out mighty on top, surprising many in the golf world!

The Team Championship event, which took place not too long ago, saw Bryson DeChambeau‘s Crushers GC defeat RangeGoats GC to clinch the title. They managed to take home a winner’s cut from the $50 million in what can be called an amazing performance no less. However, the final event in the league saw a depressing amount of viewers, 152,000 to be exact, on Sunday as per Sports Media Watch.
Despite the unfortunate development in the Miami tournament, the Middle Eastern circuit has received a piece of good news in the form of the ‘Best Golf Tournament of the Year’ award from the World Golf Awards. The honors were granted to the Adelaide event in the Saudi-backed League with no competition from other events in the form of nominations.
Adding to the acclaim, the CEO of LIV Golf won the ‘Golf Course Designer of The Year Award’. He received the same while beating the likes of legends Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. The Aussie owns the Greg Norman Golf Course Design which can be recognized as a premier design firm that has featured over 100 courses across numerous countries.

However, similar to the league, the news was not taken in a good heart by many in the community. A lot of them went ahead to comment under the tweet that was posted by NUCLR GOLF on their social media handle.
A Global Golf Awards to compete with World Golf Awards?
The 68-year-old received recognition on two fronts, for the league and the design firm he manages. And this led to a frenzy of reactions coming in through the post on Twitter. The responses ranged from those of criticism to a few consisting of wishes. Let us take a quick look at some of the comments under the tweet.
The viewership drop came out to be a hard hit on the league and some golf enthusiasts pointed out the same while alluding to the “desperation” of the circuit to bring back the ratings. They even went ahead to call the whole awards a “farce.”
Now you know this is a farce! Good lord they are desperate! LoL

Some turned to the body that awarded the two prizes to the shark and the circuit. The follower went ahead to sarcastically take a dig at the World Golf Awards by mentioning how he would make a similar body and gift himself an award. Hilarious much?
I am giving myself best golfer is the year award from the Global Golf Awards. The GGA is the most prestigious award one can receive

Well, some people did not even want to take a look at the rankings as they commented as if they were against the whole system. Moreover, the recent prizes given to the Middle Eastern league must have only reduced the already little trust they had in the system.
If you are the kind of chap that picks your surgeon based on that ranking in the inflight magazine, this is meaningful

However, there were people who supported the two, especially the Adelaide event. The LIV Golf event saw themselves replicate Scottsdale’s infamous 16th hole in a bid to provide an ultimate experience to fans. The ‘Watering Hole’ consisted of a few bars situated around the stadium build-out at the par-3 12th hole providing a one-of-a-kind experience to fans. Well, it did not go unnoticed.
Adelaide was awesome, the whole event was fantastic. The whole town was buzzing! Australia rarely gets to see such talent and was well supported, especially by families! Thanks Sharkie!

Well, another hilarious comment to the fore. This time they compared a major to the LIV Golf event in Adelaide. The golfing enthusiast even went ahead to raise his concern, albeit sarcastically, whether the tournament would still take place.
Yeah…. Hard for #TheMasters to compete with Adelaide, hope they still have it in April.

Now, ending it on a good note, a fan went ahead to wish the shark and the Saudi-backed league for the awards. Well, this does prove that there are people who enjoy the PIF-funded league in the community.
