PGA Tour’s latest announcement has received a mixed reaction from the golf world. Some fans are in support of the formation of the new league while others think the opposite. However, former PGA Tour star Lee Westwood, who joined LIV Golf earlier this year, has criticized his former Tour and its players for their hypocrisy.
The PGA Tour has decided to partner with a new golf league along with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Moreover, TMRW sports, the tech-focused company launched by Woods and McIlroy will also help partner in the development of the league.

The announcement of the TGL received mixed reactions from fans. Some admired the bold step taken by the PGA Tour while others called out the Tour for imitating LIV Golf. One of the critics was none other than the former World number one, Lee Westwood.
LIV Golf star calls out PGA Tour players
Following the massive TGL announcement, Westwood was asked about his thoughts on the new league in a recent interview. The LIV Golf star did not hold back while criticizing his former colleagues. Lee Westwood also called out all the PGA Tour players for being hypocritical with their view on the LIV Golf while considering playing in the separate golf league apart from the regular Tour.

The 49-year-old Englishman said, “I laugh at what the PGA Tour players have come up with. It’s just a copy of what LIV is doing. There are a lot of hypocrites out there. They all say LIV is ‘not competitive.’ “

Westwood then talks about the similarities between the upcoming TGL and LIV Golf. He said, “They all point at the no-cut aspect of LIV and the short fields. Now, funnily enough, they are proposing 20 events that look a lot like LIV. Hopefully, at some point they will all choke on their words. And hopefully, they will be held to account as we were in the early days.”
TGL will commence in 2024. A lot more players may change their Golf Tour by then. Moreover, with both Tours making vast changes in the forthcoming years, the battle for the throne of best Golf Tour is only getting started. Regardless of the outcome, the fans will be the biggest winners by being awarded top-quality golf.
