Phil Mickelson is an avid supporter of GrayHawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has played numerous rounds of golf at the club, and has praised the course for its challenging layout and immaculate conditions.
Moreover, Mickelson has also been involved in the development of the Raptor course at Grayhawk, providing input on design and features. As a resident, he often frequents the club for practice and has even hosted charity events there.
Furthermore, his support of GrayHawk Golf Club has undoubtedly helped to elevate the club’s reputation in the golfing community and has contributed to its ongoing success. But, did you know, Grayhawk was Phil’s first sponsor in the golf industry?
Why does Phil Mickelson have the GrayHawk club logo on his bag?
When the GrayHawk Club had just opened up, they made a deal with Lefty that they would give him $10,000 a year for three years to promote their club. An important point to be noted is that the PGA Tour player had not made it big in the golf industry yet.

For him bagging this deal would have been amazing. However, by the end of those three years, Phil had won over the golf world with his exceptional performance. However, he was also too expensive for Grayhawk then. So they decided to let him go.

But, the six-time major winner didn’t let them do so and agreed to follow the same terms and conditions as before for the rest of his golfing career. GrayHawk supported Phil when his future on the PGA Tour was very uncertain. They believed in him and so, he repaid them with his kindness. And he has been connected with the club ever since.

Phil is a star at Grayhawk Golf Club
As a testament to the 52-year-old’s remarkable influence, the back of the clubhouse at GrayHawk used to feature a board. This board displayed the scores of every PGA Tour event, with Mickelson’s score always included. Even if he wasn’t among the leaders.
Moreover, when it’s time to unwind after a round, players flock to Phil’s Grill. It’s the club’s restaurant, for giant margaritas and lively conversation about their scores.
