The 2023 US Open, held at the Los Angeles Country Club, was a thrilling ride for golf enthusiasts around the globe. One could say it was a pleasant surprise to see Wyndham Clark lift the trophy against all odds. The lows of the event during the final round centered on Rickie Fowler‘s disappointing performance that saw him turn in a five-over 75.

Rory Mcllroy was also a fan favorite along with Scottie Scheffler but Clark overcame everyone else on the field. This was Clark’s first major win. A great tournament by all means! That’s why it is no surprise that viewership has also been just exponential.??

The full final round coverage on the above three platforms delivered an average of 6.2 million viewers. Which makes it the most-watched US Open since 2019.

But why was it so quiet at LACC??

The Los Angeles golf area was hosting its first US Open in many decades and so it was expected that people will throng the course to enjoy golf and see their stars in action from close.?

But shockingly, not many people turned up. In the past the event has seen thousands of people turn up and enjoy great rounds of golf.

The 2023 US Open saw just 22,000 watching from the stands. The reason behind this low attendance has been ticket sales. Since the Los Angeles Country Club is small when compared to the other venues, limitations were in place on how many people could enter.?

Fans expressed their disappointment on social media at this.

However, since the LACC North Course was hosting its first-ever major, it should be given the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, all’s well that ends well!??
