Canadian golfers' confessions—are they just too nice for the competitive world of golf?

The 2024 Presidents Cup is about to kick off in a few hours. All 24 members of the field, including captains Mike Weir and Jim Furyk, have arrived at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. Team USA arrived a day early on Sunday after learning their lesson for not being completely prepared for the 2023 Ryder Cup. Both teams have been preparing ever since for the ultimate battle.

While all the players have been maintaining a strict routine, it looks like there are fun games now and then to keep them entertained. A few hours ago, the official X account of Golfbet collaborated with the official X account of the PGA Tour. They posted a video of some of the players from the International team involved in a fun round of quizzes in Montreal. They captioned it, “🌍 vs 🇺🇸”.

The players of the International team were asked what their country is better at compared to America, and they answered. The first person to respond was Jason Day from Australia, who said that they were better at swearing. Min Woo Lee said, “I think the bacon in Australia is a lot better than the bacon here.” Adam Scott stated Australian football. He also added, “I know that they can’t argue.”

Taylor Pendrith had a rather funny answer. He thinks that Canadians can drink more than Americans. He stated, “We start earlier.” Meanwhile, Corey Conners believes it is Canadian hockey. Mackenzie Hughes thinks Canadians are better at saying sorry. Korean golfers believe that they have better food because it has more flavor and taste than American food.

The golf community was left in tatters listening to the answers, especially those of the Canadians. While some agreed with them, others laughed at it.

Have an interesting take?

The most coveted tournament in the world of hockey is the Stanley Cup. The Canadiens defeated the LA Kings in the 1993 finals. It was the last time that a Canadian hockey team had won a significant cup. However, after 31 years, the Montreal Canadiens became the most recent team to win the Stanley Cup.

While one person agreed with Corey Conners and gave a nod to the Montreal Canadiens by simply writing, “Hockey Montréal Canadian.” Another one, questioned Conners and wrote, “When is the last time a Canadian team won a cup? @coreyconners.”

Canadians have a habit of overusing the word ‘sorry.’ The most classic exercise that is often cited is when someone needs ketchup in a restaurant. When they ask the waiter to bring them some, they say, “Oh sorry! Is it okay if I could get ketchup?” Well, this is a pretty normal thing for them to say, and they don’t even realize it. Agreeing with Hughes, one of them stated, “How he said sorry made me laugh out loud hahaha. The stereotype is true!!”

Canadians have completely shifted their choice of beverage from beer to spirits and sodas. Additionally, in the most recent fiscal year, alcohol sales by volume have dropped in all provinces, signaling a significant change in Canadian drinking habits. They were anyway known to be light drinkers, as statistics indicate that the consumption of alcohol is only 97.5 liters per capita, which is quite low compared to Americans.

Taking to this, they left comments like, “Yeah, drinking ‘lite’ beers” and “Canada saying drinking is crazy. Wisconsin alone can out-drink Canada”
