The citizens of Arkansas have a big judgment to make on November 8. It is the day they get to choose whether to vote for or against ‘Issue 4.’ Although the result is not final, the American professional golfer, the son of Arkansas, John Daly, has made his decision. And he has clear reasons for it.

“I know there’s been a lot of talks out there about ‘Issue 4,'” Daly said in a video he posted on Twitter. “This is pretty simple in my opinion. Issue 4 will safely legalize cannabis here in our beautiful state of Arkansas,” he added.

Issue 4 is a citizen-proposed amendment that asks the voters to help change the Arkansas Constitution to allow and regulate cannabis (marijuana) for non-medical purposes. Since the matter is not simple, many have been conducting discussions and debates to sort out what’s right and not. Like any other political topic, not everyone was in the same boat by the end of these discussions.

As an Arkansas citizen, the 1991 PGA Championship winner also has his input on the topic. “This has happened in 19 states, and the sky didn’t fall,” he told the public through the video. “Personally, I don’t feel that this is any different than buying a beer.”
John Daly explains his reason for supporting Issue 4
Nineteen states in the US and the District of Columbia have legalized the adult use of marijuana (recreational marijuana). These states include California, the golf influencer Paige Spiranac‘s home state, Colorado, New Jersey, and New York.
According to Daly, these states didn’t suffer any problems from legalizing cannabis. He also pointed out the merits the citizens of Arkansas would have by voting for Issue 4.

“A vote for Issue 4 would increase access all across our beautiful state,” the 2-time major champion listed what he believes the amendment can bring to the society. “Tripling the amount of stores, more than doubling the amount of growing facilities, creating millions of new funding for our police, creating 1000s of good jobs revenue for our state…”
Notably, it is not the first time Daly has shown interest in political matters. He was one of the sound supporters of the former POTUS Donald Trump when he did the election campaign. As a matter of fact, the golfer even attended a Presidential debate as a guest of Trump in 2020.
