The PGA Tour is to kickstart yet another season with its first destination being Hawaii. The Sentry is almost here and is shaping up to be a major event! With a history spanning 72 years dating back to Al Besselink’s win in 1953, this tournament has undergone a significant transformation.

The 60-player field had the top 50 from the 2024 FedEx Cup standings. Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Thomas Detry, Max Greyserman, and Alex Noren qualified via the top 50. Thirty-seven players are ranked in the top 50 of the OWGR list, including Xander Schauffele. The history is a rather rich one. But most importantly, the tournament boasts the Hawaiian culture, making it a treat not only for the players but even for the audience.

One such ritual is the song sung at the first hole, right before the players start their game. What happens that makes it so special? All spectators are invited to join the Opening Drive Celebration at the No. 1 tee before the first tee time on Thursday. The event will include a traditional Hawaiian blessing led by Kumu Pono Murray, a cultural expert from the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, along with authentic Hawaiian entertainment.

You are really in for a treat if you have your tickets booked for this weekend in Hawaii. And no, it is not just for the thrilling game at the first Signature event or the cultures that follow. The venue in itself is breathtaking.

What makes the Plantation Course at Kapalu so special?

The Sentry offers a unique fan experience that combines the laid-back island lifestyle with world-class competition, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the iconic Plantation Course at Kapalua. With top-tier dining options and unmatched golf competition on a platter, fans can look forward to an unforgettable experience when the PGA TOUR’s season-opening event returns to Maui from January 2-5.

The Plantation Course at Kapalua has the most amazing views. The area from hole 5 to hole 7 has some exceptional mountain views. On the other hand, the 11th hole has the wonderful Honolulu Bay, which is regarded as the best surfing ground and ocean views. And of course, there is the 18th hole, which has the best panoramic view and is also known as the fishing hole.

The best mention is Tito’s Stillhouse, which is only for the 21+ audience. It is located near the Main Entry across the fan walk. Spectators can sit there comfortably enjoying cocktails and food from the Plantation House Restaurant. Fans can also enjoy drinks at the Michelob ULTRA Bar, placed near No. 10 Green and No 14. tee.
