The Sentry 2024: Exploring the Big-Money Sponsors Behind the PGA Tour Event

The Sentry will officially kick off the PGA Tour next year. The $20M purse signature event has multiple deep-pocketed sponsors that include local and global giants across different industries. Big names include Sentry, who is the title sponsor, and Pepsi Co., the beverage giant.

The partnership with megabrands that the Tour enjoys will boost Jay Monahan’s hopes for retaining sponsors amid reports of the contrary.  Before the Tournament begins on January 4, we look at the top sponsors of the Maui event.

Sentry 

Sentry first came on board in 2017. In 2020, the original five-year agreement was replaced by a longer tie-up that is set to run till 2029-30. Sentry is a business-focused mutual insurance company based in Wisconsin, USA. 

Notably, Sentry has had a footprint in golf since 1982. Aside from being the title sponsor, the company is also involved in various welfare programs, such as the Sentry Scholar Program, and supporting Maui United Way.

Kapalua Golf

Kapalua Golf Club, in addition to its hosting duties, will also be a sponsor of The Sentry. The two courses inside the club – Plantation Course and Bayhill Course are extremely popular among pro and amateur golfers.  

The course has been recognized as the best golf course in Hawaii by a leading publication. The par-73, 7596 yard,  Plantation Course will host this year’s Sentry.

Hawai’i Tourism Authority

The Hawai’i Tourism Authority is the official source of tourism and business-related information in the State. Furthermore, the Tourism authority has taken various initiatives to help the Kokua people after the devastating Maui wildfire.

This year, the State Tourism Board looks forward to raking in more support for their cause from the golf community. They surely have found a strong backer in Patrick Cantlay, who through his organization is helping the first responder of the Maui wildfire. Moreover, Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele have also publicly pledged their support. 

Pepsi

Pepsi is another big-money sponsor in the Senty. However, no major details are available about the sponsorship terms with the Tour or the duration of the agreement. But the $233 billion beverage company is no stranger to golf. Aside from being a sponsor of the Maui event, Pepsi Co. has made inroads into the sport through the Pepsi Tour.

Gemini

Gemini,  another local sponsor, provides the outstanding opportunity to watch whales from their sprawling 64’ catamaran. On top of that, Gemini offers a unique opportunity for visitors to listen to ‘whale songs’ through a hydrophone. 

PGA Tour has already announced the field for the Sentry. 25 players from the FedEx Cup final list and 34 winners of the previous season will complete the 59-men field.
