The 2025 PGA Tour season is all set to kickstart. It will begin with the big-money signature event, The Sentry, in Hawaii. The Sentry kicks off the PGA Tour’s eight Signature Events, featuring a field of 60 of the world’s top players. While not as large as some fields, it’s still stacked with talent, including 37 players ranked in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
Among them are top-10 stars like Xander Schauffele (No. 2), Collin Morikawa (No. 4), Ludvig Åberg (No. 5), Hideki Matsuyama (No. 6), Wyndham Clark (No. 7), and Viktor Hovland (No. 8), along with five players who won last season. While the World No. 1 will not be able to be a part of the event because of the hand injury that he had during the Christmas dinner, it will still be an exceptional field to witness. If you already have bought tickets for the tournament, you are in for a great weekend. But before that, here is all you need to know about the weather update at Kapalua.
Pretty much like most other PGA Tour events, The Sentry too might be at risk of getting interrupted by the weather. However, the opening day of The Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort will steer clear of any disruptions. The temperature is predicted to go as high as 29 degrees and will drop down to only 19 degrees. Even the UV Index will be 5, which is moderate, and the wind will be blowing in from ENE at a speed of 20 km/h. There are no chances of thunderstorms and only a 2% chance of rainfall. What might cause a problem will be the sudden wind gusts blowing in at a speed of 43 km/h and the 22% cloud cover, which might make visibility an issue.

However, things might get problematic on Friday. The temperature will remain somewhat the same, ranging between 18 degrees to 28 degrees, and the Max UV Index too will remain at 5. But, according to the AccuWeather reports, “Partial sunshine with a passing shower in the afternoon”. There are 55% chance of rain and an 11% probability of thunderstorms. But the silver lining is, that the time predicted will only be half an hour. The wind will be blowing in from the NNW at a minimal speed of 7 km/h. While wind gusts will not create much of a problem since the speed will only be 26 km/h, the cloud cover will rise to 40%, making it dark.
A clear weekend at The Sentry 2025

And there will be only a 1% chance of rain. The winds will be blowing in from the NNE at a speed of 7 km/h. Wind gusts might still be a problem since they will be sweeping in at a speed of 32 km/h. But cloud cover should not be much of an issue, as it is predicted to be only 17%.
