One might speculate the reason behind the injury being due to some heavy lifting, or Woods’ training with the navy SEALs, or some completely different reason. But the story and truth differ from speculations.
The startling reason for Tiger Woods knee injury
It’s stupid to keep guessing the reason behind the injury because it’s dubious that anyone other than Woods would know how he tore his ACL in his left knee. But do you remember Woods’ first pump at the 2007 PGA Championship? He either pulled or at least partially severed his ACL.
It’s possible that Woods got injured while trying to break Jack Nicklaus’s record of 18 major championships. He was the one who popularized the fist pump in professional golf, but it cost him his knee. The incident occurred during the final round of the 2007 PGA Championship, at the eighth hole in Southern Hills Country Club.
The long putt for a birdie on par three curved towards the hole, and the ball slowly went in the spot. He then launched a powerful fist pump. The former No.1 fell, and his left knee landed on a downward slope. A worried expression appeared on his face immediately. He was seen limping at the side of the green.

Woods completely denies the injury
After he sustained the injury, the PGA Tour member denied he ever had any injury. He said, “As far as hurting myself, no, all good.” Woods has a reputation for omitting injuries during his interviews or discussions. So it was not a shock that he did not accept it.
As a result, within eight months, he underwent knee surgery right after the Masters in 2008. Tiger went on to win the U.S. Open with a broken leg and a torn ACL. His negligence made him undergo a reconstructive ACL surgery. He had to stop playing for eight months and restrict his movements to get better.
