Currently, Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, and Jack Nicklaus are only a few of the golf icons who are living in Jupiter Island, Florida. By the looks of it, Phil Mickelson is looking forward to joining others. This news of Mickelson wanting to move has been around since 2020. The PGA Tour icon is getting a house built there.
As of now, Mickelson is living in San Diego, California. The 51-year-old has been waiting to make the move, which might happen soon. However, there is no definite date set for him to move to Florida.

Why does Phil Mickelson want to move to Florida?
Mickelson, according to various reports, might want to move out of California due to the state’s tax laws. “There are going to be some drastic changes for me because I happen to be in that zone that has been targeted both federally and by the state, and it doesn’t work for me right now,” he said back in 2013. ,”So I’m going to have to make some changes”.

While speaking to Golfweek, Mickelson had also said that Jupiter Island does have a lot of great things. That being said, his move to Florida has taken more time than many thought it would. Mickelson himself has not revealed many details about the timeline.

Did Tiger Woods move to Florida because of tax-related reasons?
Reports reveal that California’s tax rate is definitely higher than that in Florida. Tiger Woods, in 2013, had also spoken about moving to Florida due to tax laws. “I moved out of here back in ’96 for that reason”.

Mickelson and his wife have bought land in Jupiter Island and will construct their own house there. “We still have to build,” said the 45-time PGA Tour winner. “We have a lot. We haven’t built on it yet”.
