Bryson DeChambeau has always been a controversial figure in golf. While most of it is credited for being ‘too nerdy’ in his approach to the game, there have been a few incidents in his brief career that have made him unlikeable.

Some of these incidents include his beef with fellow golfer, Brooks Koepka, which eventually led to a match-up between the two – which DeChambeau lost appallingly. There was also his on-and-off feud with caddie Tim Tucker, which ultimately led to the latter quitting his job.

While the two episodes happened on separate occasions, it seems as if they were connected. Famous scoop meister, Ian Rapoport, disclosed the news on why DeChambeau’s caddie called it quits, and how that played into his feud with Koepka.
What happened between Bryson DeChambeau and his caddie?
Tucker started caddying for DeChambeau at the 2016 Memorial and continued to do so until the middle of 2017. The pair took a break from each other before returning a year later. In the lead-up to the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, the two abruptly split.
DeChambeau eventually missed the cut and was temporarily caddied by the manager of his driver’s brand, Ben Schomin. So far, DeChambeau has won all his Majors with Tucker by his side.
Not much has been said about the split up – Tucker avoided all potholes by terming it as a ‘mistake’ and that he didn’t carry any animosity against his former employer. However, Rapoport’s statements provide a stable reason as to why the split happened.
What has Ian Rapoport said regarding the split up?
“I have heard that DeChambeau and his caddie have long been at odds,” he said in 2021. “DeChambeau, I would say, the way he has dealt with his caddie was not something that others on the Tour really appreciated, just honestly.”
The NFL sports pundit also revealed why DeChambeau’s actions against Tucker kicked off a storm between the former and Koepka. For a long time, fans circled the viral clip of Koepka rolling his eyes when DeChambeau walked past him, which took off on social media. While Koepka later revealed that nothing was said between the two, Rapoport had a reason to tell.
“Remember the viral clip of Koepka kinda rolling his eyes? As [DeChambeau] walked by, he kinda had to stop the interview. That was, from what I understand, according to a source, that was because DeChambeau was yelling at his caddie, and Koepka had to listen to it, and he didn’t like it,” Rapoport revealed.
