The Open Championship is having its fourth and final round today. The top 70 players (and the tied-up performers) are gearing up to win the Claret Jug this season. However, there is one former golfer who recalls the good old days when he competed to bring home the trophy.
That golfer is none other that the great Sir Nick Faldo, who won the trophy three times. He opened up about his experience of winning the event back then. And it is surely worth listening to.

Faldo had a great golfing career before he took retirement from the sport. So, it is extremely likely that he must have a plethora of stories to share with his admirers and followers. Today, at the Hoylake, right before the fourth round begins, he talked about his experience of winning the coveted title.
BBC Radio 5 Live got into a conversation with the 66-year-old player to discuss the time when he triumphed and brought home the trophy. In the video, we can see that the six-time major championship winner talks about his winning journey. Faldo confessed that he put the trophy on the bedside table so whenever he woke up, he could touch it. He further revealed that whatever he achieved was a complete relief.
Furthermore, the former golfer also confessed that he changed his swing, which was the reason he triumphed the first time. He kept on saying on his win, “You think about it literally every second about a month.” “Every step, I took, I went Open Champion, Open Champion,” he continued.
Well, now that he is no longer competing in golf, he is frequently seen commentating at major events. For this Open Tournament as well, he has joined the NBC broadcast team to do live commentary.

A look into Faldo’s golfing career
Sir Nick Faldo has won several tournaments throughout his career as an illustrious golfer. He was also ranked number one in the OWGR for a total of 97 weeks. If we talk about his Open Championship history, the American former golfer has played in the tournament 36 times.
Among these numbers, he was able to bring home the Claret Jug three times. First in the year of 1987, and then in 1990 and 1992. In his last participation in the same event in the year 2015, Faldo was unable to make the cut.
