Despite getting the opportunity to play in the Open Championship for 25 years, this will be the first time that Garcia isn’t qualifying for the event. In reality, Garcia was allowed to play until last year because he won the 2017 Masters which gives him an exemption. But for this year, after his move to LIV Golf, he had to qualify to be part of the major. Unfortunately, he failed to do so and hence, received a career setback.

Sergio Garcia’s 2023 performance so far

Garcia has given an average performance this season. He played nine LIV Golf matches so far in 2023, but unfortunately, he couldn’t secure a win. Instead, he was only able to stand under the T-10 position for two events.

If we talk about majors, the Spanish professional golfer played two tournaments. His first was the Masters’ Tournament, wherein he missed the cut. However, he gave an average performance in the U.S. Open which led him to stand T27 on the leaderboard.
