LIV Golf rebel Phil Mickelson makes a shocking revelation about OWGR

LIV Golf is already a long way through its second season this year and is getting amazing support from fans all over the world. And not just the fans, but even the players are having the best time of their lives in the Saudi League. Notably, it’s safe to say that the LIV golf tour is nothing less than a party for several pros and their admirers. However, despite having everything in their hands, the breakaway league players still have no access to OWGR points. Although, Greg Norman has been putting in all his efforts to gain ranking points for his golfers, he has not achieved any success in the matter yet.

Talking about the matter, a pro-LIV Golf page recently posted a tweet that said, “LIV shouldn’t have to adjust for the OWGR.” And of course, it went viral in no time and has been receiving tons of reactions from fans as well as golf experts, including Colt Knost. The well-known CBS host and former pro decided to raise a ‘serious question’ in the comments and said, “If you knew the criteria when you’re starting a tour why wouldn’t you just meet it?”

But little did he know that his comment would be enough to ignite an alleged argument with Phil Mickelson on the platform. The golf legend has been replying to numerous comments on the tweet to defend LIV in the matter. He even claimed that the OWGR is not doing its job properly and should rank all players in the world regardless of their league. However, during the ongoing back and forth, Mickelson spilled the tea about something that no one thought could be true.

In his recent response to Colt Knost’s consistent questions, Lefty revealed, “It was addressed and it was made clear the heads of owgr would do everything in their power to shut LIV down by any and all means.” The golf ace also pointed towards LIV Golf being a threat to all other tours, and said it was not justified to be sidelined for that reason! “Because it’s a threat is not a valid reason.”

Does Phil Mickelson want LIV Golf players to play in the majors?

Before being a representative of LIV Golf, Mickelson is a six-time major winner. His records have been documented in the books of golf’s history above most other names. Notably, that is what he wants for all his buddies in the Saudi League. And although OWGR points are necessary to qualify for the majors, Mickelson recently suggested how things needed to be changed. And according to him, looking at OWGR’s current stance, there should be other ways for players to qualify for major championships.
