It is going to be an iconic sight to witness players from the two rival leagues, LIV Golf and the PGA Tour, compete with each other in the upcoming Masters Tournament. The PGA Tour and LIV Golf play according to completely different schedules and at different venues. The 2023 Masters is the first of four major championships this year. The Masters will mark the historic first time when LIV Golf players have been eligible to play alongside PGA Tour Players this season.
LIV Golf superstars to cause an upset at the Masters 2023?
A total of 18 LIV golfers have been invited to compete with PGA Tour players at The Masters Tournament this year at Augusta National.

According to the current stats of the LIV Golf leaderboard, Koepka is coming in hot with his stellar performance in Orlando. Koepka, the Smash GC captain, shot his second consecutive 6-under 65 to grab the 36-hole individual lead at 12 under at Orange County National. Koepka will also be seeking his second LIV Golf individual title, having won last year in a playoff against Peter Uihlein in the LIV Golf Invitational Jeddah making him the first individual to celebrate a second time atop the podium.

According to Jim Furyk, Johnson and Koepka are like “brothers”
Dustin Johnson is currently ranked number 4 on the LIV Golf Leaderboard and he certainly redeemed himself in Orlando. He did not quite shine in the first two rounds but he did not disappoint the fans recently. Johnson dominated the first season of Saudi backed league. Dustin Johnson is now aiming to establish himself as the individual winner and as a champion team as well.

Sergio Garcia, performed well in Tucson with his finish with a birdie on his last hole at No. 17. His performance has although been subpar in Orlando. 4Aces GC star Patrick Reed is looking for his first LIV Golf individual win this year and all thanks to his amazing performance. “Game is trending, just need to eliminate a little bit of mental mistakes,” said Reed. “I’ve had too many of those so far this week.” Two weeks ago in Tucson, Reed moved up the leaderboard with a 5-under 66 to finish T18.

Backlash faced by LIV Golf
Since its establishment, LIV Golf has faced controversy due to its association with the Saudi Arabian wealth fund. The Saudi Arabian government has been accused of committing various human rights violations. And PGA Tour loyalists have been opposed to the idea of this league from the very beginning, owing to these aspects of its association.
