There are certain aspects of golf that cannot be controlled. A golfer can control his swings, officials can make sure the event runs smoothly, and caddies make sure the golfer is spot on. But when nature calls, we have to listen. There is no control over certain external forces. Sometimes it’s climate-disrupting a game of golf or trees falling and almost killing a man. That is what happened recently at the Augusta National during Masters Tournament, and Golf fans were shocked.
The lucky escape from a bizarre incident
Breezy Golf, a well-known golf apparel brand, recently uploaded a video that sent shivers down viewers’ spines. The footage depicts a terrifying incident where two towering trees come crashing down, causing panic and chaos as people scramble to escape. Tragically, one person was caught in the dangerous crossfire, with the caption “Different angle shows a person directly between each tree that falls,” further emphasizing the severity of the situation. The incident occurred on the afternoon of the second round of the Masters Tournament, just before 4 p.m. ET, when adverse weather conditions caused the suspension of play.

The entire incident was caught on video by a camera on the scene, without which it would have been difficult to believe. The camera happened to be filming professional golfers Larry Mize and Min Woo Lee, as well as amateur golfer Harrison Crowe, as they played the par-3 16th hole from a distance of about 50 yards. The collapse was captured in real-time, providing a clear view of the events that unfolded.
Fortunately, according to Scott Van Pelt of ESPN, there were no injuries reported following the incident. It’s clear that the man involved was incredibly fortunate to have escaped unharmed.
According to GolfChannel.com, a storm cell passed across the area earlier in the afternoon. As a result, the second round was stopped for 21 minutes straight. It was shortly before 6 o’clock when the Augusta club officials issued a statement indicating there were no injuries. They also added that the Tournament would stop for the remainder of the day and will resume at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday. “Augusta National Golf Club can confirm that no injuries were reported from three trees that were blown over to the left of the No. 17 tee due to wind.”
The golf world reacted to the shocking incident at the Masters
The video expresses how scary that moment would have been. The fans took note of it and commented about the lucky person who escaped. Some sarcastically talked about it and said, “One would think running perpendicular to the falling tree would be a smarter move,” and “Girl ran away how people in movies try to outrun falling buildings.” It was followed by “That guy said his prayers that morning” and “Gotta go buy a lottery ticket with that luck.” One fan said, “I see two people!”

Other comments showed care for the survivors. The comments said, “Unreal. Glad they were all ok.” And it was followed by more. “When it’s not your time!”, “Man they were so lucky” and “That person in between the trees is happy to say the least.”
But the shock was also a highlighted component. “Wow…how did that miss that person.” However, some joked that it was an air baby who did that, while others were blaming Greg Norman indirectly and hilariously. “Turns out a “Nreg Gorman” rented a chainsaw from Home Depot earlier that afternoon… coincidence!?”
