Tiger Woods is arguably believed to be one of the best players that golf has encountered. Tiger Woods has 15 major championship titles and 82 PGA Tour wins to his name. When a player like this is absent from the course, it is surely felt. Tiger Woods has had a tough time with his health recovery and dealing with a messy breakup with ex-girlfriend, Erica Herman. Woods has decided to sit out of some of the championships. In the recent episode of the official podcast of The Masters, Rory McIlroy humbly discussed the impact of Wood’s absence. 

Rory McIlroy discusses post Tiger Woods era 

In the latest episode of The Masters: Fore Please! Now Driving, the world’s number 2nd golfer, Rory McIlroy got candid. McIlroy was asked about how his passion has elevated for the PGA Tour, and he said all of the PGA Tour players were striving towards the same goal, “We’re all sort of striving for the same things which and a post Tiger era is really important.”

Praising Woods, McIlroy mentioned that 20 of the PGA Tour players are equal to 1 Tiger Woods, that’s how astounding Woods is. “You know, 20 of us equals one of him.” Rory McIlroy has expressed that it is now the responsibility of the remaining players of the PGA Tour to fill in the legacy of Tiger Woods as he is still healing.

Rory McIlroy commented that “Unfortunately the PGA Tour can’t sell him week in week out like they used to so we all collectively have to step up and try to fill that void”, it is now dependent on the rest of the players to ensure that the PGA Tour remains to be one of the most reputed golf tours. 

Tiger Woods and The Masters Tournament

In 2023, Tiger Woods is going to make his 25th appearance at The Masters this year. Woods has the second-highest Masters Champion title to his name. Along with this, Tiger Woods was the youngest ever golfer to win The Masters Tournament in 1997. He won for two consecutive years in 2001 and 2002 at Augusta. Then again, he won in 2005 and then he went on to win one more time in 2019, regarded as the greatest comeback in sports history, before his life-threatening accident.

Tiger Woods is known to be one of the most iconic players that golf has ever seen. It is hard to disagree with Rory McIlroy about filling in the void that his absence is leaving on the golf course.
