He said, “Practicing the Texas wedge on the range is next level.” For those who don’t know, Texas wedges are not just another type of wedge, nor is it a type of golf club. It’s just another way to refer to a putter. They are putts made from the fairway or fringe as opposed to chipping or pitching in golf.

Mickelson’s range Texas wedge was a scary decision because practicing on the range is not easy as it seems. The golf range practice allows the golfer to have many repetitions in a shorter period of time. But only if the golfer was accurate with the ball striking. It can take 50 to 70 shots in an hour. On the other hand, practicing on a golf course is undoubtedly quite specific, considering the golfer’s practice volume. This is how fans reacted.

On Friday, after the second round at Augusta National Golf Club, the three-time Masters champion was 4 under after 36 holes. He defeated the defending champion Scottie Scheffler and world No. 2 golfer Rory McIlroy. The third round awaits, and anything can happen. But is Mickelson sure about his putts?

The defector comes out clean

Mickelson is not very happy currently. Despite doing a good job, he is worried thinking about his future at Masters. He told ESPN, “I’m close to going on a tear. Even though the scores haven’t shown it, like I’m hitting so many good shots, pretty soon I’m going to have a really low one.” But only time will tell if the tear is happening or not.

He also talked about the bad times and said, “When that happens and it clicks, then the game feels easy again. Then I stop putting pressure on myself, and the scores just start to fall into place.”  The 52-year-old skipped the Tournament last year, but he hopes to make a good return this year out of his love for Masters.
